This is one of the most affordable and reliable trackers on the market, offering built-in GPS, heart rate and sleep monitoring, as well as neat, sleek and waterproof surface with wireless Bluetooth connectivity and options for silent vibration notifications.
In short, you won’t find a comparatively similar tracking device for a matching price. So what is included?
Built-in GPS for more accurate data
It is rare to have a built-in GPS within this price range, and especially when so many other features are already included. It makes for more accurate data, which is the only way to track your progress if you are as perfectionist as I am.
Using it for 3 days (which is a lot of training in my schedule), the results match with that of my Garmin Sapphire Fenix 3, a device which is probably 10 times the price of the Ronten R2 Plus.
Real time heart rate monitoring
I train quite often, and therefore understand my heart rate readings all too intimately regardless of what activity I’m doing. While GPS can be accurate even with lower-end price models, heart rate monitoring is a different story. I rarely come across a device (this is not my first review of a fitness tracker) that has an accurate heart rate readings and affordable price tag.
It doesn’t compare to a dedicated heart rate monitor, but is very, very close, and roughly within the few percent margin of error. Closer than most of the other multifunctional fitness trackers on the market I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing.
14 training modes plus sleep monitoring
There are 8 of the default activity modes and 6 additional that can be added in the App. The entire palate includes walking, running, treadmill, riding, hiking, fitness, basketball, badminton, tennis, football, climbing, spinning, yoga and dancing. Do expect for more though.
As for sleeping, you’ll get kind of addicted. I don’t remember having more fun tracking my sleep. It can easily recognize different states, and track emerging patterns, accurately differentiating between deep sleep and shifting between phases.
Handy and useful notification alerts
Notifying you with a silent vibration, the Ronten R2 Plus features an alarm alert, call alert, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn notifications. Connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth, it is an extension of your device. There is, of course, an option to remove these notifications and enjoy your uninterrupted training session.
You can chose between 4 different colors of replacement straps (added as a gift), with black being the default and the option to choose between blue, pink, red, and teal.
