About [one word difficult to decipher] I am sorry to say I cannot open it, as i have/two functions, just about those dates!/ I am so sorry -/Always/ Ys. very affect”. Princess Helena Augusta (1846-1923) was the third daughter of Queen Victoria. Although she had a romantic relationship with Prince Albert’s librarian Carl Rulard, she married the impoverished German Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein. The princess was an active supporter of many charities. One of the founding members of the Red Cross, she was also the founding president of the Royal School of Needlework. Additionally, she served as the president of the Royal British Nurses’ Association. Letter: one vertical, and one horizontal fold. Worn and creased throughout. Toned.
