By 1981, Chrysler showed a small profit; three years later, the company announced record profits. Iacocca, who retired as CEO in 1992, had previously served as General Manager and Vice President and President of Ford, where he introduced the highly successful Mustang and the unsuccessful Pinto. Iacocca wrote several books, including an autobiography. Portfolio magazine named him the 18th greatest CEO of all time.
