In full: “In connection with the tape which you cut on September 25th, if perchance you have any idea of when you might run the same, I would appreciate being advised as I would like to listen to it. It was indeed a pleasure to meet you and Mrs. Sanders and you are certainly to be congratulated on the efficient manner in which you operate these recordings. Very truly yours”. H Allen Smith (1909-1998), formerly an FBI Special Agent, served in the California State Assembly (1949-1956) and US Congress (1957-1973) as a Republican. George Sanders was a radio and TV journalist and interviewer, based in Los Angeles and later in Portland. Smith was running for his first term in the US Congress when he signed this letter. Toned on upper and lower edges. Normal mailing folds. Signature slightly smudged but still readable.
