JOHN H. TRUMBULL The “Flying Governor” of Connecticut signs this typed letter along with two cards , one of which is printed Typed letter signed: “John H. Trumbull” in black ink, 8½x11, December 11, 1945. In part: “I have not sat for a photograph for a number of years so that my supply of formal pictures is reduced to practically one, but I did find in my files the enclosed print which was taken when I was Governor.” Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition. (2) Signature: “John H. Trumbull/Gov of Conn/1925-1931” in blue ink, 2¼x1¾. Lightly toned. Affixed to 8½x11 sheet. Otherwise, fine condition. (3) Printed card signed: “John H. Trumbull” in black ink, 2¼x1¾. Lightly toned. Corners slightly stained. Gold shield symbol printed on top. Mounting residue on verso. Otherwise, fine condition. John Harper Trumbull (1873-1961), a conservative Republican, was Governor of Connecticut from 1925 to 1931. Elected Lieutenant Governor in 1924, he succeeded to the top office when Governor Hiram Bingham resigned to fill a US Senate seat one day into his term. Trumbull was re-elected twice. Trumbull, a licensed pilot, was known as “the Flying Governor.” Trumbull’s daughter was married to President Calvin Coolidge’s son. – Please contact us if you have any questions or require additional information.
