Colonel James H. Kasler (b. 1926) is a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was recognized as an Ace in the Korean War after shooting down several MiG-15s, flying over 100 missions during the war. While flying a mission during the Vietnam War, Kasler was gunned down over North Vietnam, and was captured and held as a prisoner of war for 6½ years, where he was routinely subjected to severe torture and punishments. For his service during the three wars, Kasler has received 76 awards for service, including the Silver Star, Legion of Merit, nine awards of the Distinguished Flying Cross, two Bronze Star Medals, two Purple Hearts, and eleven awards of the Air Medal. To date, he is the only person to be awarded the Air Force Cross three times. Corners slightly worn and creased.
