Higher Naval Engineering Order of Lenin School named after F. E. Dzerzhinsky – founded by Emperor Paul I (great-grandson of Peter I) August 20 (31), 1798 as the School of ship architecture. More than 130 years (in different years) the school was located in the building of the Main Admiralty In 1998, after merging with LVMMIU, the name of Lenin was transformed into the Naval Engineering Institute, a military educational institution in St. Petersburg. From July 1, 2012 after the merger of the Naval Engineering Institute with the Naval Institute of Radio Electronics named after AS Popov, the Federal State Educational Institution became the Military Institute (Naval Polytechnic) branch of the FGKVOU VPO “Military Training and Research Center of the Navy” Military -Maritime Academy named after the Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union N.G. Kuznetsov
